What do you think when you see an injured soldier? Do you have pity? Feel sorry? Think their life looks hopeless?
I challenge you not to move your thoughts to that place. As a wounded soldier, I did not want pity. I wanted people to see me for who I was, not what I looked like… I wanted people to still see the person and soldier that I continue to be.
Do you wonder what to say when you see an injured soldier? Does the situation seem awkward or uncomfortable? Do you question what that soldier might want to hear?
I did not like hearing, “I’m so sorry.”
Don’t be sorry. Be thankful for their service….
