Some people may wonder why I am still in the infantry. Or why I am attending the Maneuver Career Course. To them I say: why not?
Yes, I understand that I will never deploy overseas or take command of a deployable unit. Who would trust me with an M4 rifle in the middle of Afghanistan – I’d run from myself!
Part of the reason I have achieved what I have is because of the leaders and mentors who have been able to think outside of the box and see the bigger picture. People who know I am still the same guy. People who know I am someone who can still contribute in a meaningful way to the Army….
